Now is the time to inspect your landscape for rabbit, mole and/or vole damage.
us with your concerns. If you have forgotten to plant your fall bulbs, you still have time provided the bulbs are still in firm condition thru the end of the month. In planting this late, they may bloom later than everyone elses, but at least you would have saved the plants. Even if they are placed temporarily in a planter or pot you will save the expence of replaceing them in the fall for blooming right on time next year. Removing heavy snow throughout the winter will prevent freeze to the foliage that could result in damage to the branches. Some plants may need to have heavy snow removed throughout the winter. Sheared evergreens, hedges, arborvitae and Carol Maackie daphne can benefit from heavy snows being gently removed. Place a broom or rake under a branch and bump it lightly upward, shedding the snow. Just after a snowfall, snow must be removed or it will freeze to the branches or evergreen foliage, resulting in damage when later removal is tried. Begin planning your vegetable garden for the coming season. |
